I’m Glenn David Schroeder, your neighbor and candidate for Illinois House District 16. This campaign isn’t about power—it’s about people. I’m running to ensure that you are represented with integrity, transparency, and the dignity you deserve. 

Politicians constantly tell US what THEY THINK the issues SHOULD BE. 


Here's a question for you: When was the last time a politician knocked on your door or sent you an email and asked how you were doing? When was they last time an elected official asked what were the 1 or 2 top problems that were affecting you and your family and your neighborhood?


Has that EVER happened to you?


If not, that's about to change.  Because, it's impossible for me to represent you, my neighbor, if I don't know what your biggest headaches are.  And, it would be incredibly selfish and arrogant to suggest that I can read your mind.


So, if you please, share  the main issues that YOU feel are impacting you, your family and your neighborhood - RIGHT NOW. 


I'm going to post these replies in an ongoing tally so that you can see precisely what your neighbors feel are the REAL issues that are affecting them and your neighborhood.


Don't worry.  I'm not going to sell your information and I'm not going to blow up your phone and email and ask you for money.  I'm just asking you to share what is MOST IMPORTANT to you and your family - my neighbors - so as a community we can clearly see what matters need to be tackled first.  Does that make sense?

These aren’t campaign slogans. They are how I live my life. In fact, they are the guiding force force for how I make decisions, how I treat people and how I keep my word. My name is Glenn David Schroeder, and I’m not a politician. I’m your neighbor. I'm stepping forward and putting myself in the line of fire to ignite my neighbors to take action and bring the power of representative government back where it belongs...to the people.


A Life Rooted in Faith and Service


I was raised on the east coast of the United States.  However, I went to school and feel most comfortable in the Midwest.  Chicagoland has been my home for over 20 years.  And, I have lived here in Skokie going on 10 years now.  People have seemed to stray from what is most important: saying grace before a meal, being respectful of your elders, working hard and extending your hand to someone in need.  I believe that Almighty God placed us here to be of maximum service to Him and our fellow man. Love your neighbor as yourself. (Mark 12:31).  And, I've spent the majority of my adult life striving towards that ideal.  Sure, I make mistakes.  And, sometimes I fail completely.  But, I trust in God.  I get back up and I try to do the next right thing.


I’ve been very blessed to have a successful small business.  And, I have helped numerous small businesses in the area to grow.  I have worked alongside schools, towns, villages, charitable organizations, families and single parents for decades.  My goal has been to help put smiles on faces.  Whether it’s entertaining at local events, designing websites or serving behind the scenes, I’ve always believed in trying to bring a little bit of joy to wherever I happen to be.


That’s why I’m running. Not to tell you what to think—but to listen to what you need.


Abraham Lincoln once said, “The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do… in their separate and individual capacities.” That’s the standard I hold myself to: bringing people together and inspiring them to do things that they did not think they could do.


Why I’m Running


When was the last time someone from Springfield  asked how your family was doing? When was the last time a politician truly wanted to hear from you—not just suck up to you to get your vote, but listen and hear about your struggles?


That apathy and hypocrisy is why I’m stepping forward.


I believe what Thomas Jefferson believed:


“When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.”


In my gut, I feel like people either don't know what action they can take.  Or, they are too afraid to take action.


We don’t need more career politicians.  We need neighbors who care.  Being elected to office is a gift.  And, it should be treasured...daily.  And, those officials are not allowed to disappear into offices in the lofty halls of the State Capitol after Election Day.  A responsible State Representative needs to continue to show up, ASK their constituents - YOU - open ended questions.  They need to LISTEN to the answers that YOU provide.  And, they need to ACT based on what YOU say is most important to you, your family and community, within the guidelines of the Constitution of the United States and the Laws of God.


What I Stand For

  • I will always protect your God given and Constitutionally protected rights to live out your beliefs boldly and freely. Our Creator—not the government—gave us our rights. As the Declaration of Independence says:  "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.“  These aren't just words on a piece of parchment.  The men who signed that document were signing their death warrant if they failed in their mission to preserve the rights that were given to all of mankind by Almighty God. 
  • Family
    I’ll fight for policies that strengthen—not tear apart—the family.  Nearly all societal problems stem from a broken family.  After destroying God, the number two goal in the Communist Agenda is to destroy the family unit.  A strong family unit means safer neighborhoods, schools that teach truth and a government that honors parental authority. 
  • Freedom
    You should never fear speaking your mind, defending your family, or building your dream. I will defend your God-given liberties: free speech, self-defense, and freedom from unnecessary government intrusion.


Let’s Get to Work—Together


This isn’t just my campaign. This is our movement. I’ll be walking your streets, knocking on your doors, and showing up at your events.  You know why? Because that’s what neighbors do.


I want to hear from you. I want to fight for you. And I want to build a local government that once again reflects the people it serves.
